As a filmmaker, it's got to be a pretty darn good sign when you attract the support of high quality executive producers - in this case, none other than Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress Viola Davis and her immensely talented husband, Julius Tennon.

You know what's even better?

The Brink deserves it.

An intimate and thought-provoking psychological thriller, The Brink centers around two stranded survivors in a barren wasteland who clash as they begin to unravel how they arrived at this place. Written by Kaylon Hunt, who also stars in the film, and directed by Ben Jendras, The Brink captivates both emotionally and in terms of its advanced technology. The Brink utilizes an innovative new 3D sound technology from Astound Studios called AstoundSound, which allows for a 3D listening experience without the use of any specialized software or hardware, and is the first narrative film to do so.

It's an immersive experience and one can only hope that it may become an experience that spreads more widely in its use.

Of course, the best technology in the world means nothing without a quality story, strong cast and an overall quality cinematic experience.

Fortunately, The Brink delivers.

Hunt gives a crushing performance as Rian, a man whose inner turmoil is worn in practically every way it can be worn. Marcus Choi and Diarra Kilpatrick are also top notch.

The Brink is the kind of film that can be interpreted in a myriad of ways. It can be both maddening and exhilarating, yet it's also constantly involving and impossible to forget. It's the kind of film where you almost assume there's something you missed the first time through and you find yourself wanting to watch it all over again.

The film had its world premiere at FLICKERS Rhode Island International Film Festival  and also screened in Los Angeles at LA Shorts Fest among other fests.
